三重県桑名市出身。

1990年　鬼太鼓座（おんでこざ）に入座し、座の創設者、田耕（でんたがやす）氏に

師事。同年から1993年まで、アメリカ大陸一周15,000㎞を走破。その間４回のカーネギーホール公演を含め、全米の主要都市にて約500回の公演を行う。その後、座の中心的メンバーとして、国内はもとより、世界各地で2,000回以上の舞台を務める。

2004年　鬼太鼓座より独立、ソロ活動に入る。2006年東京文化会館にて、ソロコンサートを開催。

2008年　エストニアのラクベレ市にて、相撲ワールドチャンピオンシップにてオープニング演奏。

2009年　フィンランド、エストニアの数十か所で公演。

2010年　1月トルコ、アルジェリア公演。国際交流基金主催「トルコにおける日本年」オープニング式典の演奏をはじめ、各地で絶賛される。5月、7月、8月、9月、10月、北欧公演。スウェーデン、フィンランド、エストニア、ラトビアの数十か所でコンサートを行う。

2010年2～3月、外務省招聘により、サウジアラビア、クウェート公演。

2011年10月エストニア、タリン市の国立劇場にてエストニア国立合唱団（2002年グラミー賞受賞）と共演。

2013年　１月、スロバキアのコシツェにて、ヨーロッパ文化首都イヤーのオープニング演奏を務める。１１月、国際交流基金主催ツアー、マラウィ、ケニア、とアフリカ公演で成功を収める。

2014年　アフリカ、モンゴル、イランツアー。2015年「東久邇宮文化褒章」を受章。　2月、クウェートツアー、3月、福島県立相馬高等学校を訪問し、ボランティアで太鼓の指導、作曲をする。5～6月、フランス、ドイツ、ルクセンブルクツアー。

7～8月南米、キト、リマ、リオディジャネイロにて、オーケストラに和太鼓のソリストとして招かれ、指揮者「西本智実」（http://www.tomomi-n.com/en/）と共演。2016年　フィリピン、デンマーク、エストニアツアー。2017年夏、デンマーク、フィンランド、エストニア等北欧７カ国のツアーを成功させる。三味線や尺八、笛などの邦楽器にとどまらず、オーケストラや、ジャズ、ロックミュージシャンとのコラボレーションなど、精力的にプロデュースし、作曲、演奏する。

 

Ichitaro　was born in Kuwana, Mie Prefecture of Japan.

 1990,　He joined famous Japanese Drummers Group Ondekoza, and studied under Den Tagayasu who was the founder of  Ondekoza.In the same year, he ran 15,000 km across the United States over the next 3 years. During that time he performed over 500 concerts at a wide variety of venues, among them 4 performances at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York.

After the performance of United States, he has performed more than 2000 stages as the main drummer in Ondekoza all over the world.

 2004   He debut as a solo drummer.

2006  Solo concert was held at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan (Tokyo Culture Hall). 

2008 He performed at the opening ceremony of the World Sumo Wrestling Championships, which took place in Rakverein Estonia.

2009  He performed in several places in Estonia and Finland.

2010 In January, He performed in Turkeyand Algeriawhen the Japan Foundation, within the framework of celebrations for "Japan Year 2010 in Turkey" in opening ceremony. He was selected as a main performer in a series of concerts in Turkey as well as Algeria.  After the performance in Algeria and Turkey, he performed in several countries in Scandinavia such as Sweden, Finland, Estonia, and Republic of Latvia.    

2011 In February to Mach,  Ichitaro　was invited from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan to perform in Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. In October, He played with Estonia National Choir (won Grammy Award in 2002) at national theater in Tallinn, Estonia.  2013 In January,Ichitaro had performed at the opening of Europian Capital of Cultural Kosice 2013In Slovakia.

In August,he performed in five capitals with TAIKOZA,which is wadaiko group based in New York,as Switzerland tour.In November, Ichitaro was invited by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan to perform in Republic of Malawi and Kenya.His performance has succeeded in Africa.

2014　Africa, Mongolia, Iran Tour.

2015  In November, he received “Higashikuninomiya Prize” (http://higashikuniprize.org/) .

In February, Kuwait Tour.In March, he visited Soma High School in Fukushima (http://www.soma-h.fks.ed.jp/) as a volunteer to supervise and compose Wadaiko drum.  In May and June, His tour has held in France, Germany, and Luxembourg.In July and August, He was invited as a soloist in Orchestras ( such as National Symphony Orchestra of Ecuador(http://www.tomomi-n.com/en/schedule/detail/2015/07/16_0/), The Municipal Symphonic Orchestra of Rio de Janeiro(http://www.tomomi-n.com/en/schedule/detail/2015/08/02_0/) and collaborated with Tomomi Nishimoto (http://www.tomomi-n.com/en/)

Outside of performing, Ichitaro　is also known for his compositions, which include not only traditional instruments but also more modern musical styles, such as Jazz.
